Goodnight Moon...

This article in today's NYT about digitally removing a cigarette from a photo made me laugh. I've read Goodnight Moon hundreds of times and never even noticed the cigarette.

However, I can't help but notice that Curious George has a death wish. Climbing buildings, drifting off on balloons and kites, walking on electric wires, eating toys...and on and on.

All of which I can overlook, knowing that he's just a little monkey and being curious is his gig. But why do they have to make him drink barium? You'd think that if they could train him to fly a rocket ship in less than a day, they'd be able to find the jigsaw puzzle piece without barium? Right?

That's a little more detail than I think a 3 yr. old needs...

...she gave George something to drink that looked white and tasted sweet. 'It is called barium,' the nurse explained. 'It helps the doctors find out what is wrong with you, George.'

Huh??

I try to avoid reading any of Curious George's misadventures.

Scranimals, on the other hand, is great. Its about an island where the animals are bizarre combinations of plants and animals: Spinachickens, Radisharks, Porcupineapples, Broccolions.
